Lock and Load: Nerf Gun Battle at Skateland

Things just got real at the Skateland.  On Friday July 3, we will be hosting a nerf battle.  We will be bringing out the fog machine, glow-in-the-dark obstacles, and cake!  And if this isn't enough, we will also be renting the scooters out for free.  If you have plans this Friday, cancel them.  This is going to be epic!

Event Details

The nerf battle is from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  For safety, we ask that guests only bring in nerf guns.  For the sake of clarity, this means no water, bb guns, potato shooters, laser guns, light sabers, or real guns.  Basically, if you bring something in that can really hurt someone, you and your instrument of destruction will be asked to leave.  We will be checking toys at the door to ensure this rule is enforced.

Skating is from 7:00 pm (ish)- 10:00pm

While we clear the floor for regular skating, please enjoy a free slice of homemade cake

Admission is regular price ($7 per person; children 2 and under are free).

So come on in for some good fun, good cake, and a glow-in-the-dark/foggy showdown of epic proportions.

Skateland Rollersport: More than skating

The bouncy house was a winner
There are several things that come to mind when I think “Southern Illinois”: acres of rolling farmland, pork burgers, friendly faces, cowbells, and community to name a few.  But I am willing to bet my brother’s belt buckle that most people absolutely hate having to drive EVERYWHERE.  The nearest theater from my house is two towns away (about 28 miles).  Luckily for me and my family, there is a little gem of a family fun center within reasonable driving distance.  Skateland Rollersport is an oasis to the area’s amusement-starved desert.

Skateland isn’t just a roller rink.  It also offers a neat play zone, which is excellent for kids who love to climb, bounce, and slide.  What I like most about the play zone is that I can see my 2 year old at all times and get to her with relative ease.  This is something that I really appreciate.  Have you ever tried to pry your squalling child from a fast-food play place?  The struggle is real, people.

My daughter having a blast on the playzone.  When you
bring your child, have them wear something bright.

I love miniature golf, but I don’t so much love being outside in the heat.  Skateland also has a glo-light golf course.  It’s a mini golf course that glows in the dark!    Enough said.

The artwork around the mini golf course is phenomenal

In addition, Skateland also has a bouncy house.  What child does not love bouncy houses?

Sometimes you just have to have something fried.  If the fair isn’t in town, don’t fret: Skateland has fried oreos, twinkies, pickles, green beans and more.  (Seriously….the fried pickles).  Skateland’s snackbar is just plain amazing and reasonably priced.  There is nothing more liberating than letting your child loose while you sit and stuff your face.
I would have posted the whole thing.....but I ate it

Real love is letting your mom eat the other half of the fried twinkie

At the end of the day, family is what it's all about it.  We could all use some respite from our daily routine.  With good food and good fun, Skateland has a lot to offer families who crave something more.
